Welcome to Curt’s View

In this time of strife, conflict brewed by disinformation, I believe we should have more communication, not less. We can’t fold our cards, retire to our bunkers, and succumb to the dark forces that seek to divide us. To that end, we should discuss our political views and engage in social commentary.

The intention of this blog is to connect, to reignite dialogue between the foxholes, and to recognize and unearth our shared humanity. It is only by communication that barriers can be shattered, offering paths back to common ground, disinformation vacuumed out.

“Being taught to avoid talking about politics and religion has led to a lack of understanding of politics and religion. What we should have been taught was how to have a civil conversation about a difficult topic.” ~ Ryan Fournier

War ends November 13, 2017

Ain't nothing more powerful than an idea. An idea can diffuse, dismantle force when it appeals to our humanity, our collective souls, and the innate goodness that resides in all of us. The Berlin Wall was dismantled, not though force, but through the idea of freedom.
Racism—it is still with us today

Racism—it is still with us today

I'm a white guy. I hang around with white guys; most of my friends are white guys. And because I'm a member of this tribe, I listen in on unfiltered conversations. And because my pigment offers me this access, it is with great sadness that I report—racism is alive and well in America.

Trump tweets this morning

Our President elect was tweeting this morning at 3:30 because Meryl Streep called him out for being a bully. Shouldn't our President elect be concerned with more substantive issues, say, peace in the middle east, America becoming an oligarchy, helping heal the racial divide in our country.
